Jeff Carwile, Clarinet


  Biography

Jeff Carwile began his musical training at the age of twelve in Winchester, Virginia. Jeff continued his study at West Virginia University, earning his Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance.

After earning a Master’s degree in Performance and Pedagogy from the Florida Sate University, Jeff studied as a post-graduate student at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, working towards a Doctor of Musical Arts.

During his training, Jeff has studied with John Weigand, Thomas Thompson, Frank Kowalsky, Ron de Kant, David Breeden, Louis Baez and Carey Bell.

Jeff is an active chamber musician and soloist. He is the principal clarinetist for the San Jose Wind Symphony. He has also played with various local ensembles including the California Wind Orchestra, Master Sinfonia, and the Ohlone Wind Orchestra. Jeff teaches clarinet and reedmaking lessons and is currently writing a book on making clarinet reeds by hand.
